Arlington, Va., JULY 26, 2016 – Stephanie Mount has won the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of the Year award in small company category at the 15th Annual Human Resources (HR) Leadership Awards Gala of Greater Washington. This award acknowledges Mount’s outstanding performance and strategic vision at Eagle Hill Consulting in the areas of organizational leadership, risk taking, innovation, vision, communication and service to the broader community.
“The Eagle Hill family is so proud of Stephanie’s recognition,” said Melissa Jezior, Eagle Hill’s president and chief executive officer. “Stephanie and her team play an integral role in enabling Eagle Hill to achieve its long-term business goal of 10 times the growth in 10 years while remaining a best place to work. Clearly, our company goal presents high HR hurdles, particularly for a small business. Stephanie takes these challenges head on, and she has achieved success amidst rapid growth while staying true to Eagle Hill’s key values and family-oriented culture,” Jezior explained.
The Human Resource Leadership Awards is the Greater Washington area’s longest existing, most prestigious and sole independent awards organization promoting HR excellence. The CHRO of the Year award is a new category in 2016 to recognize top HR executives who are key orchestrators of strategic initiatives that address business needs with a measurable impact.
As Eagle Hill continues to grow, HR strategies delivered under Mount’s leadership are positively impacting the company. The average retention rate at Eagle Hill is 93 percent, and 93 percent of employees believe that it is a best place to work. More specifically, Mount earned the award in recognition of three key HR strategies successfully implemented that support Eagle Hill’s long-term business goals:
- The first strategy addresses the challenge of attracting and hiring only “A” players for Eagle Hill. Mount and her team rolled out a new hiring methodology that standardized the candidate screening approach, then trained the recruiting team on the new process. As a result, the company saw an increase in high performers skyrocket from 23 to 78 percent.
- Another successful strategy implemented was targeted at retaining those “A” players by providing clear career paths and development support. To that end, Mount and her team worked closely with executives to define clear performance standards and expectations, create career levels and a related competency framework, and roll out a new performance review process.
- Under Mount’s leadership, Eagle Hill strengthened its promotion process to enhance career progression clarity. Engaging key leaders at Eagle Hill, she and her team launched a career advisor program that 100 percent of employees say positively impacts their career development.
Mount currently serves as senior director and head of human resources with Eagle Hill. She has been with Eagle Hill since 2007, and has more than 16 years of HR experience. She earned an M.A. in industrial and organizational psychology from George Mason University, and she holds her B.A. from the University of Kansas.
